ORELI MAAGIA 2 - concert in House of the Blackheads, Tallinn

The historic House of the Blackheads in Tallinn opens it's doors for a concert exclusively given by Estonian young generation soloists Marcel Johannes Kits (cello) and Kadri Toomoja (organ) with the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and conductor Tõnu Kaljuste.

Concert programme:

• Ottorino Respighi - Suite G Major

• Edward Elgar - Sospiri op 70

• Georg Friedrich Händel - Organ concerto no 3–4 op

Performers:

• Kadri Toomoja (organ) - Estonian leading organist, has recently worked with many conductors and composers and performed at full house concert at Arvo Pärt Days in Brussels, Flagey

• Marcel Johannes Kits (cello) - Estonian leading young generation cellist with international career, recently performed as semi-finalist at ARD Music Competition in Munich, Germany

• Tallinn Chamber Orchestra – one of the Estonian signature orchestras that cooperates with notorious conductors and often performers at music premieres and introduces Estonian music abroad.

• Tõnu Kaljuste (conductor) – founder of Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and several other professional music groups and cultural projects in Estonia, professor at Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, as a has been honoured with the prestigious Grammy Award and had several Grammy nominations

House of the Blackheads in Tallinn

House of the Blackheads (Mustpeade maja), in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, is a former headquarters of the Brotherhood of the Blackheads. Historically, origining from the 14th Century. In 1597 it was renovated under supervision of the architect Arent Passer. The façade was rebuilt in the style of Renaissance architecture from the Low Countries. The painted doors date from the 1640s. A Maure, a symbol of Saint Maurice, the patron saint of the Brotherhood, appears both carved in wood and sculpted in stone above the door.
