St Petersburg launches guest card

Following in the footsteps of such tourist hotspots as New York, London, Paris, Barcelona and Stockholm, St Petersburg has rustled up its own Guest Card, offering visitors discounts on some of the city's top attractions.

The special card, which is available to both native Russians and foreigners alike, covers theatres, museums, boutiques, restaurants and much more besides.

Visitors can snap up the card for 48.5 euros, meaning that all in all, culture vultures can save 10 percent on the attractions included in the package.

Amongst the institutions cooperating in the programme are the Peter and Paul Fortress, St. Isaac's Cathedral, The Russian Museum (taking in the Stroganov Palace, the Marble Palace, and the Engineer's Castle) and the the Church of the Saviour on the Blood. Last but not least, visitors can join tours at the State Hermitage with experts curators, and are free to take pictures and make personal films.
