Rautakesko supplying St Petersburg

The mysteriously sounding Rautakesko is a Finnish company offering building and home improvement products. The chain operates in eight countries in the Nordic and the Baltic countries, Russia and Belarus. They own about 300 retail shops all over the area.

The new store, K-rauta, is opening this week in the Krasnoselskiy district. It holds a wide variety of useful services such as paint mix, saw cut and home delivery on the day of purchase. Plus they offer an interior design free of charge (though "free of charge" always sounds a bit suspicious to us...).

"The experiences gained in St. Petersburg create a good basis for the development of the K-rauta chain in other parts of Russia. We aim to open our first store outside St. Petersburg in early 2009," says Mikko Pasanen, Rautakesko's Country Director for Russia.
