Editor's review

If you're going to visit one museum in the capital, make it the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, situated on picturesque Lenina street in central Minsk. The institution first opened in 1939, and after a tumultuous history finally has finally landed in its current location with a collection that's bigger and better than ever. Holding the largest collection of Belarusian and foreign art in the country, the National Art Museum is home to over 27 000 works of art, though, of course, only a small fraction of the entirety is ever on display at any given moment. Apart from rotating temporary exhibitions, the permanent displays at the huge museum are divided into several collections: Ancient Belarusian Art, Belarusian Art of the 19th century, Belarusian Art of the 20th century, Russian Art of the 18th - early 20th centuries, European Art of the 16th-20th centuries, and Oriental Art of the 14th-20th centuries.
