Weber, Wagner, Strauss... opera as an art form would not be the same without them, and what better place to perform some of the greatest Germanic composers than in Berlin.
If it's an art form that you have never considered, or have thought of as only for the old-fashioned and conservative pursed-lips brigade, Deutsche Oper is a venue that can change your mind all on its own.
It has a quite charming policy of enlisting the aid of German celebrities to promote each new season, and testimony to the power of the opera many of these celebs begin their stint knowing nothing about DO but end it wanting more, more more.
