Editor's review
The elegant Croatian National Theatre was designed by the renowned Viennese architects Ferdinand Fellner and Herman Helmer and opened on completion by the Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph I. Completed in 1895, the theatre and its surrounding buildings are the most elegant representations of the neo-baroque style popular in Zagreb at the end of the 19th century. Considered to be Zagreb's most elegant and spectacular building, it is a source of great pride, not only in Zagreb but the whole country. A typical weekly programme includes theatre, opera and ballet and the ticket office is open between 10-14 through the week and for an hour and a half before performances at all other times.

This certainly is a national treasure. The gentleman below should ask the ticket office if there are English performances. There are ballet and non-speaking performances as well.

the croatian national theater in zagreb is truely magnificent and deserves to be discovered by more tourists. i don't know if they have productions in English but even if you don't see a performance at the theater you should go and see the building because the architecture is well worth it
