Art Serves the Samurai

Coats of arms, swords, muskets and other objects used by the samurai in everyday life are presented at the latest exhibition of the National Museum. These items, mostly from Edo (1600–1867) and Meiji (1868–1912) periods, possess not only sheer functionality, but also decorative beauty and jewellery-maker's precision.
