Marathon runner sets out from Budapest to London

A 25-year-old Hungarian has set off on an epic fund-raising run to London to tie in with next month's Olympic Games.

Norman Varga has 1240 miles ahead of him before he can give his trainers a rest.

His challenge amounts to 50 marathons in 50 days, and he has seven countries to cross before he makes it to the United Kingdom.

Varga's route will take in Slovakia, Austria, Germany, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and Holland.

What's more, the 25-year-old suffered a terrible accident nine years ago, with his left arm having to be reattached after he was run over by a tram.

When not engaged in athletic feats, Varga runs a foundation aimed at helping young Hungarians to lead a healthy life.

It is unclear what Varga will treat himself to when he arrives in the English capital, but he will certainly deserve a hearty meal. Thankfully he will not have to compete in the ensuing games.
