Medieval Africa Revealed

What were the lives of the residents of medieval Africa? Whet were their beliefs and funeral rituals? Their mysteries have recently been discovered by contemporary archaeologists and presented in Poznan's Archaeological Museum.

The exhibition entitled "The Christian Great Kingdoms of Nubia" includes a trove of over 40 year long excavation works in Sudan (Old Dongola, Banganarti and Faras), during which the researchers found houses, churches, monasteries, fortifications, and graves of the Christian inhabitants of Nubia dated to 6th - 14th century. Presented are also high-class wall paintings presenting Christian saints, angels, bishops, as well as the rulers of Nubia. Also, richly decorated ceramic artefacts and handicraft from Sudan, as well as as a grave reconstruction are real treats of the exhibition.
