Vizcaya was the estate of James Deering (1859"1925), an American millionaire who assembled a team to build his vision, which began in 1912 when he purchased part of the property. In 1953 it opened to the public and immediately began offering tours the following year. Visitors wander through the spacious, royal estate, which echoes European styles and displays an impressive art collection and the gardens are no exception to this. Audio and guided tours are available - visitors can also choose to wander independently.
