Any given night of the week, live music is spilling out onto the streets from a local establishment. Miami has a particularly rich tradition of hosting artists at bars and restaurants - some musicians even have a weekly slot that draws their fans. Live music fans absolutely should not miss Miami Live Month, which engages the local music world for an intense month of non-stop entertainment  A great year-round resource for local venues is local blog Beached Miami, which has updated listings of the city’s top notch music venues.

Jazz & more

Miami has a solid jazz scene, and a few places in particular attract local and international musicians regularly. Named Miami’s best small music venue by the Miami New Times, Jazid is a Miami Beach staple that often integrates jazz into its repetoire, among other genres. The Van Dyke Cafe has live music upstairs almost nightly and an updated schedule on its website. In addition to jazz, expect Latin beats, blues, and R&B, among others. Bardot is another known to feature jazz musicians as a favorite genre.

Eclectic

Many local bars and music hubs attracts eclectic styles of music, welcoming local and international talent throughout the year. The indie scene thrives at these institutions, which serve as community centers for the arts world as well as places to simply watch music. Check out Sweat Records, Vagabond, Tobacco Road, and Electric Pickle, to name a few.

Performing Arts Centers

A number of performing arts centers in Miami create a non-stop string of opportunities to see live music in impressive venues. Downtown Miami’s Gusman Center hosts live performances year-round, from music and theatre to dance and film. Similarly, the Adrienne Arsht Center - a brand new state-of-the-art facility is a mecca of performing arts, playing host to music performances and others throughout the year.
