Muziek in de Cathrien. music from Brabant´s own soil.

On Saturday, December 5th, 2015 at 3 pm in the Town Church St.Cathrien, Eindhoven "Muziek in de Cathrien" presents the ensemble Collegium Musicum Catharina conducted by Ruud Huijbregts.

Musical accompaniment by Arwen Bouw and Arjen de Graaf, violin; John van den Beemt, cello. On the program this afternoon work of the Brabant composers Herman Hollanders and Benedictus Buns.

Herman Hollanders (ca.1595-ca.1640) was vicar of the Eindhoven chapter and organist at St Catherine's Church in Eindhoven. In 2006 the complete published works of Herman Hollanders was recorded on CD by soloists and members of the “Brabantsch Muzyk Collegie” conducted by Ruud Huijbregts. The album (3 CDs) is available the end of the concert. Benedictus Buns (1642-1716) lived as sub-prior and organist at the Carmelite monastery in Boxmeer. Buns has distinguished himself for the Dutch Catholic church music by his compositions. In 1679 he was appointed organist in his monastery. Buns wrote motets, dialogues for vocal and instrumental ensembles, instrumental sonatas, litanies and masses.
