Culture in Bratislava

Bratislava has been beefing up its festival fixtures in recent years, adding some fine new feathers to its cultural cap. One fresh number to look out for is the International Film Festival, which dishes up a banquet of celluloid magic each Winter. Connoisseurs of the crucial culture of beer-quaffing should mark June in their diaries for some serious ale indulgence.

Meanwhile, golden oldies in the cultural calendar include the celebrated Month of Photography, which kick-started a host of copycat festivals across Central Europe (the more the merrier we say!). And cultured cats can also check out such gems as Bratislava Jazz Days and the Bratislava Music Festival (both in October). Besides these annual aces, visitors to the Slovak capital can enjoy the stalwarts of the city's attractions. Have a flick through our directory for all the best museums, galleries and theatres in the city.

Bratislava looks very beautiful. We hope to come here in June. We shall certainly visit the castle.

Often called 'The Upside Down Table' but that seems a little unfair!
