The Quest. What does it mean to be a Zakopaner?

All quests start with an agreement to put away everyday habits, beliefs, and obvious judgements. It's hoping to encounter the new, the different and the unknown.

The latest exhibition in Kulczycki Gallery is an attempt to demonstrate a variety of ideas and expectations that have been shaping the image of Zakopane for past decades, as well as those that influence it now. The canvas for the presentation is an 1891 epoch poem by Stanislaw Witkiewicz, "At the Col". The authors of the exhibition have based it on three essential areas: the nature, the civilisation and the lifestyle of both the residents of Zakopane and the Tatras, and the tourists.

The exhibition is yet another initiative of Foundation Zakopianczycy, involved in projects devoted to determinig the local identity of Zakopaners.
