It's had its ups and downs over the years - and in Ofenloch's case the heritage stretches back some four hundred years - but by and large this restaurant has been a reliable port of call in recent times. Secreted away on a spellbinding little street off the Tuchlauben, Ofenloch hits the right balance between sophistication and homeliness. It's ideal for both a family dinner or a romantic tete-a-tete. In Summer, dining out on the Kurrentgasse is a delight, and set lunch menus are the norm. Classic Viennese fare rules the roost, but often with a lighter, modern touch. A charmer.

My boyfriend and I dined at this restaurant last night and would not recommend it to any travellers. Aside from the 1.5 hour wait for our meals in the almost empty establishment the more offensive matter was that they were cold. We ordered the veal steak but were unsure if that was one of the meals we were actually served as it tasted very metallic. The service and wine were so so. If you do intend in dining here do not ask the waiters to recommend wine as they offered us only the cheapest bottle. Overall quite disappointing.
Ate there last night, excellent cuisine and service 10/10. Was in a small party of 9 and even after arriving at different times the waiter showed patience and support assisting in a variety of languages. would eat there again and it has my high recommendation.
Keith, I'm not sure you went to the same restaurant I did. OK, it was about 3 months ago that I went there, but I was very impressed.
I was a little disappointed with this restaurant, having read the reviews before I went. The food was fine, but not outstanding. Service was no more than adequate. Definitely found better places. I give it a 7.
We ate here twice on our trip to Vienna and couldn't recommend it more highly. Alt Wien at its best!
