The UK has produced plenty of celebrity chefs from Jamie Oliver to Gordon Ramsay, but the quirky cuisine of molecular gastronomist Heston Blumenthal is perhaps the most innovative and intriguing. His Fat Duck restaurant in Bray village is constantly battling it out for the title of best restaurant in the world, and recently, the mastermind has brought his signature cheeky approach to historic British food to the capital. Prices are on the expensive side, but not prohibitively so. For example, a weekday, three course set lunch will set you back just £36 per person. Meat fruit, anyone?
