Vintage Zakopane

Since 'Zakopane boom' in late 1890's, this city has grown to prominence from a small settlement owing to artists' and famous people's interest. Celebrities were flocking in to live here, or at least spend their leisure time. When building their houses, some of them were enchanted by the traditional highlander's style, and some tried to introduce the then latest trends, hence Zakopane's multiple architectural face.

The exhibition 'Architecture of Zakopane in the Interwar Period' presents the city's quest for identity, from tradition to modernity.
