The Battle of Morskie Oko

Thu 5th
Jul
18:00 - 20:00

The first in a series of weekly talks at the Tatra Museum will be about the border dispute that raged for 30 years - over who owns the biggest lake in the Tatra mountains.

From 1879 to 1909, rights to fish the Morskie Oko lake were debated by the Galicians on one side and the Hungarians on the other. Although a legal order put the lake in Poland in 1902, it would be another seven years before appeals were finally settled.

Hear the full, fascinating story at this talk. Tickets cost 7zl, and include entry to the museum.
