Barabbas

With Easter just around the corner, it's a fitting time of year for the Witkacy to be showing this play - based on the Nobel Prize winning novel of the same name by the Swedish author Pär Lagerkvist.

On the surface, the story is that of Barabbas, the man set free as Christ was crucified. But it is in fact much more than that - an exploration of faith and spiritual longing, and of the ways in which we seek to understand our interaction with the world around us, and especially with the concept of religious faith and understanding.
