Style and Substance

Step back to the 19th century to see the roots of Zakopane’s distinctive architecture, art and crafts, in a genuine Highlander house.
Zakopane Style: Inspirations includes a preserved 19th century living room, and an ethnographic collection of 400 items brought together by ethnographers Maria and Bronisław Dembowski.
The collection, bequeathed to the Tatra Museum in 1922, inspired Stanisław Witkiewicz to create the distinctive ‘Zakopane Style’ architecture – which is also known as ‘Witkiewicz Style’.
