The beginning of May sees a pair of national holidays, one on the 1st (International Labour Day, ridiculed by most theses days as communist) and the other on the 3rd (Constitution Day), the latter a celebration of 18th century progressives. It ends up as a three day holiday, and Zakopane puts on a real party. Expect a packed programme of concerts, taking in all kinds of musical styles, from folk to reggae. Fingers crossed Mother Nature will also be in a good mood, and we might just have some sunshine...
