If you're arriving in Budapest by air at terminal 1 or 2b, why not start your holiday in style by getting into an Avis car right at the main city airport. They're open from eight in the morning, right through to eight in the evening (Terminal 2b until 10pm, tel: 00361 2966421) seven days a week. If you're already in town, no problem, you can drop by their office at Bank Center - Passage,Szabadsag Ter 7, Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm, (Sundays until 5pm) to sort yourself out some wheels. Avis have got a great fleet of cars ready to drive away including, Ford Mondeos, Skodas and Opel Astras. To book online Click here, or to find out more just go to the site, click 'Display Rental Agreement' and hit 'Ask Avis'. Avis' English language website should be able to answer all your queries and if it can't, you can contact them directly.
And once you're all buckled up and raring to go, Budapest and its surroundings are yours to discover. Why not take a fascinating delve into Eastern Europe's Communist past with a trip to Memento Park on the outskirts of town. While many other Eastern European cities bulldozed their statues of Lenin, Stalin, saluting workers and peasants sporting bulging biceps, in Budapest around 30 were saved to create a fascinating 'blast from the past' park. Visit Budapest Life's city guide to find out what else you can get up to in this action-packed town.
