Where is best to stay in the city centre?

Hi, Visiting Krakow next month with friend for the first time and just wondered where is best to stay in the city centre? Want somewhere cheap and clean. Also, we want to visit Auschwitz one day, and wondered where tour buses/trains leave from - ie where would be best to stay in view of this? Flights are cheaper into Katowice, but this seems to far out, especially as we get in at 1.30am on Tuesday morning, so might have to go for main airport, even though it's £100 more expensive. Any recommendations on any of above? Hope you can help! Thanks.

Pretty much every hostel listed on this site is in the city centre, either in the Old Town or Kazimierz. Just have a look here: http://www.cracow-life.com/krakow-hostels.php The train station is in the centre of town, so it doesn't really matter where you stay, as it's quite accessible. If you're flying Wizz, they have buses that go into Krakow from Katowice after each Wizz flight arrives, you just have to book your ticket in advance. It is an hour and a half ride though, so it's not that convenient - but it's worth it if you'd like to do your trip cheaply!
