Krakow Opera Summer Festival

Welcome to the 21st edition of the Krakow Opera Summer Festival (June 9 - July 2, 2017) - spectacular meetings with great music and great artists. It will inaugurate the premiere of "The Tales of Hoffmann" by Jacques Offenbach (June 9). It is a story about the three unrequited loves of the poet, which embody three extraordinary women. The most enduring emotion that does not bring disappointment turns out to be the love of the Muses - Art. This play has been prepared by Michał Znaniecki, one of the most famous contemporary opera directors, who is also the author of the costumes. For our theater, he has created many successful performances such as "Don Giovanni", "Eugene Onegin" and "King Roger". These performances will take place on 10, 11, 13 June.

Over the last few months we have presented the audience and critically acclaimed concert series "Song - Theater of the Word", headed by artistic director Catherine Oles-Blacha as our soloist. During the Summer Festival will invite you to "The Final Concert" (June 16) in which you will have the wonderful opportunity to enjoy the singing of Monika Korybalska Katarzyna Oles-Blacha, Andrzej Lampert and Mariusz Godlewski. Singers will be accompanied by Olga Tsymbaluk (piano), Jacek Kopiec (accordion), Krzysztof Cyran (guitar) and Krakow Opera Orchestra under the baton of Thomas Tokarczyk.

During the Festival, traditionally we leave the Krakow Opera House, to "enjoy" the music and dance whilst surrounded the most beautiful Polish castle courtyard. This year's concert "Opera Arias of the World" (June 25) has invited special guests Ewa Hornyáková Daniel Čapkovič¬, soloists of the National Theater in Bratislava. This is another artistic exchange of experiences and cooperation between Bratislava and Krakow's opera stages. The rich repertoire will include arias and duets from the repertoire of the Slovak-Czech composers such as Antoni Dvorak, Leoš Janáček, Bedřich Smetana and choral passages and quotes, among others, from "La Boheme," "Tosca" and "Turandot" by Giacomo Puccini's "La Traviata," "Nabucco" and "Sicilian Vespers" Giuseppe Verdiego, "Standards" Vincenzo Bellini or "King Roger" by Karol Szymanowski.

For the eighth time in our festivals history, we will enjoy a gala ballet "Grand Pas ...!". June 29 in the Arcade Courtyard of the Wawel Castle. This will include performances by some outstanding Polish and foreign artists. World-class dancers from Moscow (Krysanova Ekaterina and Vladislav Lantratov), as well as soloists from the ballet theater in Bratislava, Košice, Vilnius and Krakow. An important point of the evening will be the performance by the Polish National Ballet of the Grand Theater - National Opera, the famous "Bolero" by Ravel music in choreography by Krzysztof Pastor. Their presentation of the "Bolero" in Warsaw was a huge success, so we expect that it will delight the audience in Krakow. The Krakow Opera Gala Ballet is a special occasion for both the audience and the artists themselves. The unique setting for the ballet coupled with the unique opportunity to exchange experiences and together experience the beauty of the dance.

During the festival, the courtyard of Wawel Castle will also host famous habanera & Seguidilla bands, as well as a toast to the bullfighter as on June 27, we invite you to enjoy the well loved opera "Carmen".

Our theater once again cooperates with the Academy of Music in Krakow. This time with "The Haunted Manor" by Stanisław Moniuszko "(June 21) from young conductor  - Joachim Kołpanowicz, who this season led, among others, "The Gypsy Baron". The show will be repeated on June 23, in the Park at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Trzebinia.
