Winter descends on Poland

The last days of November saw heavy snows descend across Poland, as the country was suddenly plunged into deep Winter.

Temperatures dropped to well into the minuses, with nighttime levels reaching minus 10 degrees. There were some delays at Warsaw airport, but things returned to normal after runways were cleared.

Cracow's Balice airport, and that at Katowice, the two key points of arrival for Zakopane, have so far not experienced any significant problems. Indeed, the thick blanket of snow has made Cracow's Christmas Market all the more festive.

Temperatures are supposed to return to above zero in the first week of December.
