Polls Reveal Different Poles

A recent CBOS poll has indicated that Poles are significantly happier than under communism. And generally speaking, Poland is considered one of the success stories of the former eastern bloc.

Nevertheless, as a further Eurostat poll revealed this month, Poland is far from being a land of milk and honey. According to the Eurostat poll, a third of Poles live in "absolute poverty" and a fifth cannot afford to heat their homes properly.

In spite of this alarming data, Poland is still rated better off than Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Latvia and Portugal.
