Police search for polite robber

Police in Zagreb are trying to track down a polite robber who is suspected of having held up some twenty betting shops across the Croatian capital.

According to police, the unconventional thief invariably minds his ps and qs whilst carrying out his heists. Besides sporting a beaming smile, the curious crook reportedly wishes his victims a good day before making off with the money. He often does not even bother to wear a mask.

Nevertheless, in spite of his seemingly courteous demeanour, the man does indeed remember to carry a knife, perhaps not the most pleasant object to brandish before a shop assistant.

The suspect is described as being about 25 years old, about 180 cm tall, with brown, slightly curly hair.

During his last foray, he managed to procure 3500 kunas (468 euros) from his target of the day.

Police are appealing to members of the public who might know something about the crimes to step forward.
