Guitarists Break World Record

Every year, the Thanks Jimi festival in Wroclaw gathers thousands of guitarists in a bid to break the Guinness World Record for largest guitar ensemble. This year, led by Jimi Hendrix's brother Leon Hendrix on Wroclaw's Market Square, 7273 guitarists playing acoustic, electric, classical, and bass guitars, performed "Hey Joe". It was the first time over 7000 attended and the world record was easily broken.

The Thanks Jimi festival has been taking place annually in Wroclaw since 588 guitarists played together in 2003. The last record breaking festival was in 2009, with 6346 participants.

The festival also featured musical performances from from Lipali, Leszek Cichonski & Friends, T. Love, and Europe.
