Simcha Jewish Culture Festival Underway

The city of Wroclaw has a strong Jewish history, and with a resent surge in young Poles rediscovering and embracing their Jewish heritage, festivals of Jewish culture such as Simcha are more relevant than ever.

Now in its 13th edition, Simcha features six comprehensive days of events and activities for both young and old, and entrance to many events is free. Workshops will cover topics such as: Kosher cuisine, the Hebrew language, Jewish dances, and a children's workshop of Yiddish poetry. The White Stork Synagogue will host most of these events, including several lectures and film screenings.

However, the highlights must certainly be the many performances scheduled throughout the week with such names as Chava Alberstein, Pushkin Kiev Klezmer Band, and the Boris Malkovsky Trio scheduled to perform.

The Simcha festival takes place 29 May - 3 June. Further details at the Simcha website.
