Carrier Pigeon Caper

Police in the town of Chojnow have caught a 28-year-old criminal, charged with the theft of 60 carrier pigeons thought to be worth 30 000 złoty (approximately 7500 euro).

In December of last year, the young thief broke into the home of the original owner, a breeder of carrier pigeons. The thief, from the town of Golaczow roughly 90 kilometres west of Wroclaw, sold the birds at 5 złoty a piece. Nineteen of the birds were sold to a single buyer in Golaczow. Unfortunately, the remainder of the birds did not survive in the thief's possession and died.

The thief now faces up to five years in jail.
