American Film Festival Wraps Up

As we reported earlier this year, Wroclaw hosted its first ever American Film Festival in October - from the 20th to the 24th to be precise. The festival aimed to promote classic and contemporary American cinema, showing that the world's leading film hub is not just a factory for big-budget blockbusters.

Over the long weekend, the AFF screened a wide variety of American films including films from special categories including American Docs, "On the Edge", "Decade of Independents", "Play it Again, Sam" (classics), as well as a complete retrospective of the work of director, screenwriter, and actor John Cassavantes.

As the festival wrapped up, two films won audience prizes. Winning the American Independent Narrative Audience Award was Winter's Bone by filmmaker Debra Granik. Writer/director team Jeff and Michael Zimbalist picked up the Documentary Features Audience Award for their film The Two Escobars.
