Cello Competition in Warsaw

The Witold Lutoslawski International Cello Competition has begun in Warsaw with sixty-six participants in the running. Hailing from twenty-one different countries, the young competitors (under 24 years of age) have gathered in Warsaw for three stages of competition.

Those who pass to the final stage will perform a Haydn, Schumann, or Lutoslawski concerto with the National Philharmonic. The winner will be chosen by an international jury comprised of professional conductors and cellists.

As one of Poland's most recognized 20th-century composers, Witold Lutoslawski is well-known for his Cello Concerto, one of the most popular 20th century works for the instrument.

The Cello Competition will take place from 3 to 10 February. For more information head to the official website.
