Poland's First Science Centre Opens

Visitors to Warsaw this year have been continuously greeted with exciting new additions such as the newly renovated Chopin Museum, and now, the Copernicus Science Center.

Located on the left bank of the Vistula, the Science Center, unlike a typical museum, takes a hands-on approach to learning and discovery. A wide variety of scientific ideas and phenomena from physics to biology are demonstrated - the perfect trip for kids of all ages, and for the young at heart of course. One of the highlights of the centre is the robotics lab which even features a poet-robot.

The Science Center opened with a bang, 454 explosions to be exact, as British filmmaker Peter Greenaway directed a special opening ceremony entitled "The Big Bang" earlier this month.

The Science Centre, named after the famed Polish astronomer Nicolas Copernicus, is the first of its kind in Poland. Additionally, a planetarium is set to open next year.
