Editor's review

Teeming with Vilnius' endless array of beautiful young people, students, hipsters and hippies, this vegetarian hangout seems to be a home-base for just about everyone ages sixteen to thirty. One of the city's only veggie places, the prices are average and the food above-average with a menu that features daily curry dishes, Indian snacks and samosas, Indian desserts, shakes and a vast selection of teas. Nonetheless, you may find more people having a pint here, and socializing with your friends long after the food is gone seems to be the norm, making finding a table rather challenging in this exposed-brick cavern filled with craggy nooks and tie-dye tapestries. The service is not prize-winning either, but the lackadaisical attitude seems to be shared by the staff and clientele alike and may have something to do with the heady aroma wafting through the summer courtyard. Live music on the weekends make it even busier.

This legendary restaurant is a bit pricey, and you need to be in pretty good shape to get down the steep stairs and through some of the nooks and crannies. The food is often late, especially when the restaurant is full.

The vibe cannot be beaten though, which is why I always find myself attracted to here like a magnet whenever I visited during the last 10 years! Eating vegetarian food in a place that probably was used for target practice by Soviet tanks 20-odd years ago is just so amazingly cool.

There is a large menu, which varies from traditional Lithuanian food to brave (and sometimes failed) attempts at Asian fusion.

I would recommend this place for families, students and the adventurous. Wheelchair users, high-heeled shoe wearers and anyone who likes their creature comforts too much should probably not come.
