There is no larger botanical garden in Lithuania that that which has its home right here in Vilnius. The Vilnius University Botanical Garden, just a short journey to the north-east fo the centre, covers 199 hectares and boasts at least 10,000 different kinds of plants.
Among the most impressive collections are the rhododendrons, lilacs, lianas, peonies, dahlias and bulb flowers.
Take a stroll around the gardens at your own pace, or hire an English-speaking guide to get the most out of your visit. If you're feeling flush, you could even see the delights of the gardens from the comfort of a horse-drawn carriage.
Look out for event listings at the gardens, as it's a popular venue for concerts and more.
