Viennale 2007

The countdown has begun. Vienna's International Film Festival will kick off on Friday October 19th, and there's a scintillating celluloid selection in store. Directors, producers, actors and die-hard film fanatics will be descending on the Austrian capital for a film frenzy that lasts a full fortnight.

As usual, current corkers will be divided into feature, documentary and short film categories. There will also be a retro dimension to the festival, with classics from Pasolini, Orson Welles and Jean-Luc Godard all lined up.

And following on from the one-off tributes of previous years to the likes of Lauren Bacall and Jane Birkin, 2007 will roll out the red carpet for cult 70s star Jane Fonda. If you've never had the chance to catch such memorable movies as Klute, Cat Ballou and Barbarella, now's your time.

Metro, Urania, Stadtkino, Gartenbaukino and the Kunstlerhaus will all be joining forces to host the celluloid celebration. For more info check the official site.
