There's no need to dive out of bed early on a Sunday morning if you're looking for a church service in English as Pühavaimu Kirik provides them at 3pm.
Language is one of the cornerstones of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Tallinn. Built in the 13th century, it was the first church in the city to hold services in Estonian. That's not so surprising when you consider that the priest at the time was one Johann Koell, who wrote the first book in Estonian.
Over the years the church has been extended, neglected, restored and rebuilt, so now it resembles something of a potted history of Estonian ecclesiastic architecture. Look out for free concerts there most weeks.
