Banksy bails out Russian artists

Famed British graffiti artist Banksy has paid the bail of two Russian artists who are awaiting trial for hooliganism.

The artists belong to the controversial dissident Voina (War) collective, which was founded in 2007 by a group of philosophy students at Moscow University.

The group's memorable stunts include painting a colossal male member on a St Petersburg bridge. The initial nocturnal stunt caught the world's attention because the bridge which adjoined the offices of Russia's Secret Services was unwittingly raised by wardens, and the mighty phallus ascended towards the heavens. Cameras captured the image and news portals across the globe covered the incident.

Likewise, Voina staged a public orgy at the fusty State Biological Museum. The romp, carried out under the title 'F**k for the heir puppy bear', was a not so respectful tribute to the election of Dmitry Medvedev, Russia's current president.

Although British artist Banksy has now secured two of the pranksters' bail for the sum of 10,000 dollars apiece the trial is still pending.

The incident in question was the upturning an empty police cars.
