A unique collection, which represents all the main trends of contemporary art: pop art, hyperrealism, neo-expressionism, neoclassicism, conceptual art, modernism and postmodernism; has formed the main body of the second half of the XX century art collection of the Russian Museum. The creation of the Ludwig Museum had the aim to present contemporary Russian art in the context of the achievements of western culture and to fix the realities of dynamically developing contemporary art process.
