US Ambassador's Sofian Rhapsody

In an interview with the Sofia News Agency, US Ambassador James Warlick sung the praises of his adopted home. The Stanford-educated diplomat, who is familiar to Bulgarians for playing a cameo role as himself in popular TV show Staklen Dom (Glass Home), says he has "loved every minute" of his posting in the country.

Reflecting on his foray into sitcom territory, he mused that he may not be about to win any Academy Awards, but the experience proved great fun nonetheless:

"For me as a non-professional actor it's been pure joy to be on the show. I've learned a lot. I've loved filming the episodes. The people are good there, they have been very patient with me."

He added that the crew were "real professionals", and professed his enthusiasm for a show that is a 100% Bulgarian enterprise.

Meanwhile, the ambassador lamented that few Americans "know anything about Bulgaria." He enthused that the country is"an undiscovered jewel", not least on account of its "friendly" people.

Mr Warlick will be returning to shoot one more episode of Staklen Dom this season, but he's not ruling out reprising his role for the next series.
