Wanted: Prime Minister

If you're looking for a job in Riga, you might want to reach for the top - at the moment, the position of Prime Minister of Latvia is up for grabs, and it seems that the country's president can't make up his mind about the candidates.

Latvian President Valdis Zatlers has now been interviewing potential candidates in the Riga Castle, and is hoping to fill the vacancy quickly. The current top runners are Edgars Zalans from the Peoples Party, Ivars Godmanis from Latvia's First Party and Latvia's Way, and Valdis Dombrovskis of New Era. The examination consisted of each candidate delivering a prospectus for their first 100 days in office, if selected - a bit trickier than your standard job interview. But besides the nominees from the world of politics, the world of business is also getting involved, with Zatlers considering some of Latvia's greatest business minds and potentials for the job. Meanwhile, outgoing Prime Minister Aigars Kalvitis assured the people that there is no political crisis - at the moment.
