Medieval romance, contemporary decor and a collection of art widely considered to be among the best in private hands in Riga are all hallmarks of Vecriga.
Comfort and service have since the hotel's inception been the cornerstones of its success. The staff at this old town hotel are rightly proud of their reputation, and guests who have paid testimony to their professionalism have included the Dalai Lama and actor John Malkovich.
With just 16 rooms on offer, it might be a little difficult to find a place at short notice, but it is worth planning in advance in order not just to experience this legendary spot but to sample the cooking of award-winning chef Eugene Ponomarev at the hotel's restaurant.
