Riga Pride

Riga's gay and lesbian rights event, “Friendship Days 2007” or simply Riga Pride, will take place this year despite protests from the Roman Catholic Church and homophobic individuals, and we say - it's about time! The event begins on the 31st of May and will feature four days of concerts, film screenings and exhibitions, all cumulating in the Pride march on Sunday, June 3rd. The goal of the organizers, the the Latvian gay rights group Mozaika, is to stop discrimination of all sorts, and make people aware that native Latvians and Russians are part of a growing homosexual community and deserve an environment of tolerance and peace.
