Russian Art Museum Opens

A museum focused on Russian art from the 18th to 20th century has opened in Prague this month by private art collector Valery Larionov. Most of the over 150 paintings on display were bought by Larionov in the Czech Republic over his 15 years living in the country. He decided to share his love of Russian art with the public with the opening of this unique museum.

The paintings in the museum include works by such artists as Ivan Ayvazovsky, Vasily Polenov, Alexander Benua, and Zinaida Serebryakova. The collection also includes an 18th-century portrait of Peter the Great, though the artist is unknown.

The Russian Art museum is now open in the Hotel Rott building in the Old Town.
