Dalai Lama Documentary Wins Award at Prague's One World Festival

We are now midway through the 12th annual One World Film Festival here in Prague, and two significant awards have already been announced.

The winner of the Vaclav Havel Special Award has been announced as "The Sun Behind the Clouds", a documentary following a year in the life of the Dalai Lama. The directors of the film, Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam, will be awarded the prize later this month from the former president Vaclav Havel himself. This special prize recognizes the film with the most significant contribution to human rights awareness.

Vaclav Havel has already awarded another important prize in connection with this year's One World festival. The Homo Homini award celebrates an individual, or group of individuals, who have significantly contributed to human rights in the last year. This year's award was presented to two Iranian student leaders - Majid Tavakoli and Abdulla Momeni.

The One World Film Festival on human rights will be screening over 100 films from across the world. Many more awards will be announced on the final days of the festival, which wraps up on 18 March.

Czech residents can also watch certain films online, by streaming them from the official sites here.
