Euro 2012 Wraps Up

Spain has walked away victorious from the Euro 2012 championships which were hosted jointly by Poland and Ukraine. The Spanish national team beat Italy 4-0 in the final, which was hosted in Kiev.

Poznan's contribution to the game was considered a success by the city, as its reconstructed Municipal Stadium hosted three thrilling matches in Group C in June. These included Ireland vs Croatia (1-3), Italy vs Croatia (1-1), and Italy vs Ireland (2-0). Hundreds of thousands visited Poznan's Fan Zone, which was open until the final on 1 July.

The next UEFA Euro championship is set to take place in France in 2016, and will expand to include 24 teams vying for top spot in Europe.
