Poznan Hotel for Tech Buffs Awarded

Poznan's Blow Up Hall, a five-star hotel in the Old Brewery, has been counted among the most hi-tech lodging establishments in the world, next to a few other from most remote spots on the globe: New York, Singapore and Hong-Kong.

What attracted CNN's attention was doubling iPhones as room keys; guests locate and open their rooms with iPhones that use digital recognition technology to unlock the doors. Also, as CNN pointed out, the hotel is filled with digital art installations, including a piece in the lobby that creates an enormous stylized image of guests using surveillance-style shots.

The other hotels noted for their hi-tech inclinations were:

Yotel New York: A robot stores your luggage

QT Sydney, Australia: Elevator plays tunes according to number of passengers

theWit, Chicago: In-room sensors adjust room temperature to body temperature

Hong Kong Peninsula Hotel: Touchscreen panels allow guests to call housekeeping, activate electronic "do not disturb" signs and adjust lighting.

Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel, Ibiza, Spain: Pay for everything with a biometric scan of your fingerprints.

Hotel 1,000, Seattle: Infrared sensors protect privacy

W Hotel Sentosa Cove, Singapore: Touchscreen tables and a mirror-cum-Facebook camera in the bar

The Magdalen Chaper, Exeter, UK: Everything's done by iPad
