Editor's review

Not only is this one of the largest cultural institutions in the country, it's also one of the coolest.

Truly iconic, Zamek is the beating heart of Poznan’s art scene. With 2,500+ events taking place here each year, every local worth his salt has a story about something amazing that they found, learnt or experienced. On any given day of the week you can find art cinema, exhibitions, performances, meetings, music and other cultural goings-on happening here and throughout the warm summer months, Zamek's courtyard is filled with joyful dancing and singing as it plays host to a range of concerts. The Dubliner and Blue Note Jazz Club, two of Poznan's more popular watering holes, are resident at the Zamek as artlife meets nightlife.

Get lost amongst the artists-in-residence, experimental collaborations of sound and matter, unexpected encounters and important festivals such as Ethno Port Poznań, OFF CINEMA, St. Martin Street Name Day & the literary celebrations of the Poznań of the Poets. All this is housed within the magnificent Imperial Palace. Originally built in 1905 for the German Emporer Wilhelm II, it was subsequently used as a University after Poland regained Independence... and then back in German Hands during WWII as a residence for Adolf Hitler himself. We think this building has found it's best purpose now.

I saw the world press photo exhbition while it was here which was pleasing. The collection wasn't as extensive as I had hoped but it was still impressive.
