How you experience this expansive royal park really depends on your approach, and the park itself is surrounded by at least five tube stations just steps away from its gates. Entering from Marble Arch will take you past Speaker’s Corner as well as a plaque marking the location of the old Tyburn gallows, the city’s most notorious public execution site which took the lives of some 50 000 people during its existence. To the south you’ll find the gem that is the Serpentine Gallery, as well as the opulent Albert Memorial. Heading west you enter what is officially known as Kensington Gardens, the regal front yard of Kensington Palace " the former residence of Princess Diana, and the current residence of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton.
