Editor's review

There have been several St Paul’s at this spot atop Ludgate Hill in the City, but after the fourth St Paul’s was lost in the Great Fire of London in 1666, the task was put upon London’s famed architect Sir Christopher Wren to build the iconic Church of England cathedral we know today. The church’s huge Baroque dome can be seen from across the city, and miraculously, the dome and the majority of the cathedral itself managed to survive the brutal bombings of the Blitz. The interior of St Paul’s is equally beautiful, though unlike many of London’s top attractions, entry is paid. Attending one of the services on a Sunday is, of course, free.
